If you’re looking for peace and quiet, this is the place!
With our traditional greeting “Grüß Gott” we would like to welcome you to Berghaus Kanisfluh! Enjoying a pith a prime position on the Schnepfegg, a hill behind Schnepfau, our hotel offers fabulous mountain views over the inner Bregenzerwald.
The Moosmann family has been caring for its guests here for over three generations.
Our area offers a number of fantastic hiking and mountain-biking trails. We would be happy to help you plan your walking routes, and can provide lots of helpful insider tips.
Of special interest to motor bikers are the numerous mountain passes, many of which can be “bagged” in a single day’s excursion.
For ski and snowboard enthusiasts the 3-Valleys lift pass, covering all the ski areas in the Bregenzerwald, the Lech valley and the Gross Walsertal, makes the perfect solution. Cross-country ski fans will find a selection of excellently groomed circuits, and winter walkers can enjoy well prepared tracks which involve little or no special equipment. Guided snow-shoe walks are also offered, whilst an evening descent on a flood-lit toboggan run is a very special experience.
We are really looking forward to meeting you!
With an area of 16.5 km², the community of Schnepfau is strung-out along the valley floor, and hemmed in on three sides by mountains: the Hirschberg, Schnepfegg and Gopf to the north, Mittagsfluh and Giblerkopf to the east and the Kanisfluh to the south. The village consists of three sectors, Schnepfau, Hirschau and the Schnepfegg. It was first settled in the 13th century by people from the Reuthe-Bezau region.
For centuries the inhabitants struggled with the mighty forces of the unregulated Bregenzerache river, but their work and determination has paid off. The original elongated village, straggling along the road with its typical farms bounded by flat fields, is today an agriculturally orientated community with a high standard of living and touristic value.
